I can but I don’t. Not that I have anything against rhymes but they seem elementary/childish to me. Unless words are nicely woven into a story from the author’s thoughts without sounding too obvious, they’re limericks to me. Plus, if the rhyming words don’t make a coherent poem, the lit is just too forced.

Because I like(d) Chemistry and Math. In high school, at least. I discovered that Chemical Engineering isn’t Applied Chemistry. It’s a whirlpool of the three subjects most kids hate — the two aforementioned and Physics. I had to embarrass myself in front of De La Salle’s College of Engineering dean to come to that realization. I can still remember her words,
“Saying that Chemistry is close to Chemical Engineering is a misnomer.”
Aside from my love for Chem and Math, my dad is biased towards ChE, of all the engineering disciplines. I can still remember his words,
“You can work in Petron.”
What he meant by “can” is “should” or “have to”. My dad is an SMC (San Miguel Corporation, Petron’s parent company) loyalist considering he’s worked there since forever and apparently he wants me to work there, too. (Beeteedubs, I got an internship there this summer, had to backout because of reasons though.)
If you’re planning to take ChE as a degree, be prepared. Learn to love the subjects I’ve mentioned.

Last March 8, I went to the Smash Project concert in Araneta Coliseum. It featured The Cab, Cobra Starship, The Used, and Dashboard Confessional, as well as local bands like Urbandub and Typecast. I know this is shallow but I found myself crying when Chris sang Stolen. I just can’t help but smile when he does. :”>
