I will never give up on staying in because it’s raining outside. I won’t let the ice cream cart pass by my house without buying a strawberry popsicle. I will not let a scraped knee keep me from continuing to play in the dirt and mud. I will never be too old to build a fort. My days will not stop until I can hardly keep an eye open. I will never forget the smell of my mom’s favorite lilac trees. I won’t stop jumping on a trampoline or playing in the middle of the street with a jumprope. I won’t give up on nighttime walks around my neighborhood or midnight slushy runs. There are some things in life I will never forget. Like how to play capture the flag or ghost in the graveyard. I guess I can’t forget them because that’s all I’ve ever known; all I’ve ever loved. My childhood taught me how to let adventure into my life. And frankly, I don’t think i will ever give up on being a kid.
